I got the acer zg5 for my birthday a couple of months ago and absolutely love it!
I’m not very technically minded and was worried about setting it all up etc but was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was.
Its really light and compact so is easy for transporting. Ideal if you want to catch up on your work on a train commute each day!!
OK so the memorys not huge enough to cope with mulitple movie downloads and other massive files but thats not what netbooks are designed for.(Plus if you’re really that bothered you could always buy an additional hard drive!) If like me, you’ll use it for surfing the web, sending and receiving emails and typing documents then this netbook is definitely for you!!!
Overall its reliable, excellent value for money, suitable for all ages and I would highly recommend it to anyone

The operating system is very stable and ive had no problems with mine, the layout of the programmes are excellent and it is very easy to use.
The battery lasts about 3.5 hrs, the netbook it is very lightweight and ideal to carry in a bag for school or college.

I bought one of these laptops for on the go internet surfing and what not to get my e-mails via a wireless dongle. The specs are correct above the main title screen except my version has an 8GB so called Solid State Drive which is absolutely abysmal it’s 1 of the 1st generation SSD’s from INTEL I believe and its performance is rather poor for Windows XP that came with it.
The read speed is about 38mb/sec and 10mb/sec write which may seem good to some but I find that awful because it doesn’t seem to be performing at that spec. anything I do will halt the system for more than a min so the SSD can do whatever it needs to do.
I could be highlighting a file to get it’s info in a small bubble and it will slow the system down. The only thing I have installed on the poor storage space that is 8GB is a few programs e.g. Firefox, CCleaner, Spyware Blaster, Spy S&D 1.6, Live Messenger I use this about 5 times a week well my G/F uses it more just for this program.
There are a few others but I have 6GB left it comes with a 8GB SD memory card for the external slot and that’s where I store all my files. For general usage it’s not very good unless you have the know how to install Linux on it which I am going to be doing soon it uses less CPU cycles less storage space on the main SSD and there’s no need for hardly any security software.
Unless you want a small compact Linux system then this is perfect providing you purchase it with Linux pre-installed other than that I’d look at a different spec with a far better SSD.
